E-Book Millionaire Secrets Revealed 8 – Making Money, Naturally!

Unfortunately there is another kind of writer’s block that has to do with the way you think about yourself. Many people who haven’t written much before are afraid of putting down their thoughts on paper in case others think they’re not good enough. The first-time writer may be afraid of being criticised by so-called educated people who have tons of qualifications and lots of letters after their names. But look, it’s a new dawn. It’s a new world and the power to publish and to be heard is no longer in the hands of an intellectual elite who sets the rules we’re all supposed to follow!
Let me give you an example. I did very badly at maths when I was at school, I used to hate maths lessons because the teacher was boring, and the way he explained the subject didn’t hit a chord with me. My teacher and I were on different wavelengths. He couldn’t understand why I couldn’t understand what he already knew, and I just couldn’t understand what he was going on about! But he was a brilliant mathematician. He had letters after his name. I was at real risk of failing the maths exam that I needed to pass, and in desperation, I turned to my best friend in the class who happened to be good at maths, and I asked for his help. It was the best thing I could have done. My friend started to explain to me how to solve the maths problems in our textbook. He took it very simply and explained things very slowly so that gradually I got the hang of it. As he explained things to me in a way that I could understand I realised that he and I were on the same wavelength that the way he was explaining things to me made sense. For me he was a much better teacher than that highly qualified teacher with all the letters after his name. I eventually passed my maths exam, thanks to my friends help!
I’m betting that at some time in your life you have told someone a story or explained an idea. Maybe it was to your friend, your husband, your wife, your child, your mother or your father… and I’m also willing to bet that that someone you spoke to understood exactly what you were going on about. Think back to that time and you’ll realise that the skills you were using then to tell your story or explain your idea were the same skills you’ll use to write your e-book. Someone understood what you were trying to say, you communicated your thoughts and somehow you had an affect on them. Perhaps they agreed with you, perhaps they laughed, but it’s important that you realise they understood what you were telling them.
While you were talking to them it’s quite possible that you used bad grammar. It’s possible that you misused some words. It’s possible that you repeated yourself. Well, big deal! You got all that wrong and you still succeeded in getting an idea from your head into the other person’s head. And it’s the same with writing an e-book. You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to have a PhD in your subject, and you don’t need an English degree to write the way you speak. Because that’s how you should write an e-book. Write as if you are explaining your topic to a friend. Imagine you are sitting there over a cup of coffee, and just chatting about your subject. Then write as you speak. Don’t write ‘I will’ when you really mean ‘I’ll’ or ‘do not’ when you really mean ‘don’t’. You don’t need to show off with a lot of big fancy words. Just be natural. As soon as you think of something get it down on paper. You can always run the spell checker and do your editing later.
